Sport Climbs

Sport. Despite the hot temperatures for front range rock climbing, we were still able to get out in Clear Creek Canyon. The shade didn't last long, but the routes were good so we climbed. Here are a few photos of Brothers Kipp and Scott Schorr...

Upper Chaos Canyon

Upper. Last weekend was a great weekend to make the hike to Upper Chaos Canyon. The afternoon storms were short, but the mosi's were out in full effect. Many boulders were climbed, including quite a few new lines for those not interested in screaming obscenities at rock climbs that are way to hard for their own good.

Sander on one of the many new lines that went up on the "S.Y.C.O.T.C.T" Boulder.

Anson on a great new problem called "Chshta-Burnt-Da"

Wade on a soon to be classic "Tinkle Torture"

4th of July

Flatirons. A group of us went to watch fireworks from a cozy perch high in the Flatirons; however, the lightning storm violently stole the show. It was amazing.

Dovile climbing up the 2nd Flatiron.

Lightning!

On the way down.

Aspen

Independence. I don't know why cliff jumping doesn't have more of a presence in my summer circuit of fun. Refreshing water, bit of freaks and scares, and it's fun!!! Saturday, a group of us were up at Independence Pass, just outside of Aspen, running around and sampling everything the pass has to offer: cliff jumping, cliff climbing, boulder climbing, ice caves (which by the way are amazing!!!), the driving range, and of course - the Hickory House.

RMNP & Evans

Bouldering. I love the high altitude migration season. Seeking cooler temperatures and the ability to experience two of the most scenic climbing destinations in the country - this season really is the earth orbiting at its finest...

A few bouldering photos. A few migratory climbers and the rituals and follies of late spring rock climbing in the high country.

A common sight of the ever increasing early season boulderer.
Look how it navigates it's way through a maze of scree and water.

A Female boulderer.
This one has shed its winter foot protection in an effort to maximize it's scree hopping agility.

Notice the carefully dug out climbing nest. Incredible!

Caught in action.
It's believed that when the boulder bites its lower lip, it increases its friction with the rock. Spectacular!

Apparently this boulderer has lost its way searching for its mother.

It takes several weeks for them to learn this skill.
It's unfortunate that by the time they master it, the snow will already be melted.

An extremely rare shot of a boulderer using special tools to access the rock climbing.
Fascinating how they adapt!

Serac Softball Night

Softball. A few nights ago a took some photos of Serac Adventure Films softball team in action. Although they may not win a whole lot, they have a damn good time and the biggest presence on that diamond. And the photos....
